Type Manager

The Type Manager is central to the whole PlayoutONE system, every item that is in PlayoutONE needs to have a type. By default when you install PlayoutONE Standard, or have your PlayoutONE Pro system set up you will see that we automatically create some types for you in the type manager. The type defines how a specific item of that type can interact with others of different types.

Main Settings:

Setting Name Description
Volume (Vol%)
This allows you to set the volume of a type. This ranges between 0% and 100% and by default is set to 100%
Title Rotation (mins)
This is the rotation of a carts title (meaning the duration at which that particular cart wouldn't play again). In PlayoutONE Standard this is used with AutoDJ in PlayoutONE Pro this is used with the AutoFill part of the RunToTime command. By default this is set to 60 minutes
Artist Rotation (mins)
This is the rotation of a carts artist (meaning the duration at which that particular artist wouldn't play again). In PlayoutONE Standard this is used with AutoDJ in PlayoutONE Pro this is used with the AutoFill part of the RunToTime command. By default this is set to 120 minutes
BillboardTick this box if you wish the Artist and Title information to be sent as Metadata, in order to form your now playing information.
Pitch To define a whole type to play at a different pitch to others. Default is 0. Setting this to a positive number will increase the pitch, setting to a negative number will decrease the pitch.
Tempo % To define a whole type to play at a slower or faster speed. Default is 0. Setting this to a positive number will increase the pitch, setting to a negative number will decrease the pitch.
AutofadeWhether you wish items of this type to be able to be auto faded by Run To Time in the playout log/playlist.
StretchWhether you wish items of this type to be able to be stretched by Run To Time in the playout log/playlist.
DropWhether you wish items of this type to be able to be auto faded by Run To Time in the playout log/playlist.
Duck
When checked, items of this type can duck the volume of other items in other types when they play next to or over the top of them.
For example, pretend you had a Song type that didn't have duck checked, but you had a Voice type that did have duck checked. When these tracks were played back, if you had the Voice cart playing over the Song cart, then the volume of the Song would be reduced by the DuckVol% (as defined in the setting below).
Note: If you have two types set to Duck, and they play over each other, this will cancel out the duck and nothing will happen.
Duckvol%The volume in percentage terms of how much a type that has duck checked, can influence another type beneath or around it. Eg. Voice tracks are usually set to duck other items so that when you are voice tracking over intros of songs etc, you may wish the Duck Vol of a voice track to sit at 30% or less. This will drop the level of any item other than a Voice track so that your voice will be effectively louder than the song.
ImporterThis is used if you are importing using the Import External Data option, this is useful if the file you are importing contains Types as a number (rather than their name), this then allows PlayoutONE to correlate this with the types you have created already. By default these are all set to 0 and only need to be adjusted in the above circumstance.
Meta OverrideSetting this value will override the usual meta that is output for this type. For example, if Billboard is enabled for the song type, and it had a title and artist of Queen - Another One Bites The Dust, rather than sending that out it would send the text you have entered into this column.
Tip: If you set the Meta Override to %%DYNAMICMETA%% this will output what your DynamicMeta is set to at the time. For help on changing this see this article
Royalty Report TypeThis allows you to assign a type as Non-Music, Music or Advert. This is used when producing a PRS report from PlayoutONE.
CueSheetTicking this option will cause the Type to be listed in a CueSheet. This is used when performing a Mixdown from the Log, for more informatino please see this article
