Disabling Windows Updates

Created by Jason Carr, Modified on Thu, 14 Mar at 6:19 PM by Jason Carr

We recommend on all PlayoutONE missing critical computers (Servers and Studios) that windows updates are turned off to prevent interference. We recommend you set a time twice a year to apply any pending updates so that you don't fall too far behind.

Disable Windows Updates

1. From the run box, type gpedit.msc and click OK.

To access the run box just right click on the windows icon in the bottom left of the desktop.

2. Navigate to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update

3. Enable the following policy

'Do not connect to any Windows Update Locations'

4. Enable the following Policy '

Specify intranet Microsoft Update service location'.

Once enabled, this policy will require additional settings. Type "http" into the fields as shown below

To enable Windows Updates you can set the steps in 3 and 4 to 'Not Configured'
